If you’re planning a private charter to Rottnest Island from Fremantle, the trip may take about 90 minutes by boat. During the journey, you may spot dolphins, and between August and November, humpback whales are often seen migrating through the area.

Rottnest Island is a car-free nature reserve that spans 19 square kilometers, with over 60 beaches and 20 bays. While many visitors explore by bike or shuttle bus, a private charter gives you direct access to the island’s best spots by boat.

Rottnest Island is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit is between September and April when the weather is warmer and more ideal for outdoor activities like snorkeling and kayaking. Keep in mind that the island can get busy during peak summer months, especially on weekends and public holidays.

Once you arrive, one of the first things to do is visit the island’s famous quokkas. These small marsupials are commonly found all over Rottnest Island, and they make for a fun stop on your way to other activities.

For snorkeling, Parker Point and Rocky Bay are two popular spots, offering clear water and an abundance of marine life, including fish and shipwrecks. If you prefer kayaking, the island’s coastline provides calm waters and hidden bays to explore. You can also visit sea lion colonies or, depending on the season, take a short cruise to spot humpback whales.

For lunch, you can either head to the island’s pub for seafood and drinks or choose to relax and have a BBQ on board the boat.

In the afternoon, you can spend time swimming, sunbathing, or relaxing with drinks on the boat. Families will find the island’s shallow bays perfect for water toys and relaxing. If you want to explore more, take a walk along one of the island’s coastal paths before heading back to Fremantle.

Lastly, while the island is known for its beaches, there are plenty of other things to do if you want a more relaxed pace. Consider visiting the Rottnest Island Museum to learn about the island’s history or taking a leisurely stroll around the salt lakes. There are also some great spots for photography, especially at the island’s lighthouses and scenic viewpoints.

A private charter to Rottnest Island offers the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Whether you’re snorkeling, kayaking, or simply enjoying the views, it’s a great way to experience one of Western Australia’s most beautiful islands.
