Become a certified PADI scuba diver in Perth!
The PADI Open Water Course in Perth is designed to help you discover the underwater world and become a safe diver. The scuba diving course takes place over 3 days, includes a day of pool training, 4 ocean dives and the PADI e-learning course.
The PADI certification is an awesome experience where you are going to learn skills that you will use for many years. During the pool session, you learn how to set up and maintain your dive gear, including how to prepare your mask, wetsuit and fins. You will then learn several skills in the shallow water, like swimming with your gear or exchanging air with your buddy. Because we only take small groups, you get plenty of 1-to-1 time with your instructor to learn those skills and you do not waste time waiting for a big group!
Schedule:
We run PADI Open Water courses starting on Fridays to Sunday’s and some Tuesdays to Thursdays. Our schedule for each course looks like this:
Tuesdays/Fridays:
8am Meet your instructor and fellow divers directly at Aqua Jetty, Warnbro for a full days training in the pool. This is a full day and you will need to bring a packed lunch as we will finish around 4pm
Wednesdays/Saturdays:
Meeting at the allocated shore dive site as discussed with your dive instructor on the previous day. This is a slightly shorter day and you should be finished around 1pm
Thursdays/Sundays:
If you are doing a Standard Open water course it will be the same as the previous day. If you are joining us for the Premium open water course then you will be heading out from East street Jetty Fremantle on our dive vessel Linni for 2 Rottnest island dives. During the summer months we meet at 7am for our dive boat and finish at 2pm and during the shoulder season and winter we depart at 8am and return 3pm
At the end of our Perth PADI dive course, you will be able to:
- Dive independently with a buddy
- Go no deeper than 18m
- Respond to any accident happening during a dive
- Control your buoyancy to optimise your experience

Our premium Scuba certification course in Perth includes the final day at Rottnest Island where you will do your final two dives with your instructor in the pristine water of the marine park!
Our Standard Open Water course is our budget friendly open water course. You still get the full PADI open water license, but all the dives will be from the shore. It is the perfect course if you are on a budget or if you are getting ready for your Exmouth Holidays!
Our 1-on-1 course will cater for your tight schedule. We will work with you to deliver the most adapted course for you while giving you 100% of the instructor’s attention.

The PADI Open Water Course is an entry level training and does not require previous knowledge of scuba diving. However, you need to be able to swim confidently at least 200 metres and thread water for 10 minutes. Being comfortable in the water is important and will make your training much easier. If you are not too comfortable, you can start with a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience to see if diving is right for you.
A very simple test: if you can keep your head underwater without pinching your nose, diving will be a piece of cake!

In Perth, you can learn scuba diving from $575 and become a PADI Open Water Diver thanks to our Standard Course. All Open Water Perth Scuba Courses include 4 Ocean Dives, but if you like to do your final dives at Rottnest Island, you can join our Premium Course for $695.

When you are shopping around for options look at what is included in the course to make your decision:
– Boat Dives: when other local dive shops include boat dives, they go on a big charter that takes all local dive shops and fishermen. They have to make sacrifices to where they are going to satisfy both school and cray fishermen. Fortunately for us our private vessels Moonshine2 and Linni take no more than 12 divers, so we can choose the best dive site for you.
– Dive Gear Included: make sure to check what dive gear is included. Some of our competitors include BCD, weights and tanks but they require you to purchase scuba diving masks, fins and/or wetsuit. A set of masks and fins can cost around $200. It is a good idea to own your dive gear, but we prefer you to have some experience with the different equipment before you commit to it. That’s why we include all gears and we do not have any to sell.
– Certification is included: Other dive shops might not include the PADI Open Water Scuba certification course, and you will have to purchase it separately. It is worth $220 on the PADI site. Also, other dive shops include the PADI Scuba Diver which is a certification that only allows you to go to 12 metres with a dive guide. We include all your certification fees, including PADI Open Water Course, Pool fees and Rottnest Island Fees.
– How many students on a course: We take a maximum of 8 divers on our dive courses. We believe this is much better for learning and you will get more time with your instructor with a lower ratio.

Our PADI Open Water course is open for anyone over 14 years old.
If your kid is above 12 years old, let us know, and we will put a PADI Junior Open Water Course on the calendar, so all students are around the same age. Parents can obviously partake to this course and get their full Padi open water license. The Junior license limits them to 12 metres and they must always dive with a certified adult. They will still have to be able to do their eLearning personally and carry 15 Kilos of equipment.

To participate in any PADI Course, you need to complete the following PADI Dive Medical. If you answer “No” everywhere, you do not need to see a dive practitioner, but if you answer Yes, you might need to consult a dive doctor.
Your family GP might not be able to sign the dive medical, so we suggest consulting one of these dive specialist.

We keep our group small to allow you to take your time on skills and have the full attention of our Instructor. Each skill is broken down into smaller skills and we do not rush them. If you are used to snorkeling and a comfortable swimmer, you should pass them easily.
At the end of the pool session, you must be able to complete all skills with ease and without hesitation. Our instructor cannot take you scuba diving in the ocean otherwise. If it is the case for you, they will suggest you join the next pool session for a $200 rebooking fee.

The eLearning takes about 8 to 10 hours to complete. You need to have it done before the first pool session, your instructor can not take you underwater otherwise. Don’t leave it to the last minute, it is dense but very instructive!

That’s the best part about PADI certification, it is valid everywhere. The world is your oyster. You can dive anywhere in the globe no deeper than 18 metres!!! Dive on your mate boats, go to Exmouth and explore the Navy Pier, discover the reef of Bali and of course join us for another dive to Rottnest Island.

After your course, you can join our weekly free club shore dive. You only need to rent equipment for $60. A single boat dive is $55 and a double dive to Rottnest is $165. If you invest in your own dive gear, a full kit costs around $2,000 and will last you a very long time. We suggest starting with masks, fins and wetsuit before going for a full kit. Thanks to all the shore diving in Perth, scuba can be cheap.

We will be diving the local shore dives of Perth, they are rich with crustaceans, juvenile fish and plenty other things. We made some of the best dive briefing for those sites. Have a look at our videos 2 Minutes to Dive. If you are lucky, you might see octopus, sea horses, blowfish, leather jacket, crabs, nudibranch and many more. Western Australia is rich in biodiversity, we have numerous sea mammals, plenty of birds and a humongous amount of fish.

If your buddies are not certified, they can join the course. If you book the course together, you will get a very good discount.
If they are certified they can join us on the Rottnest trip.
